Shabana graduated from Barts & The London School Of Medicine & Dentistry in 2010 with Honours, attaining a number of distinctions as well as prizes during her undergraduate training.
Following a year in general practice, she undertook further training at Whipps Cross and The Royal London Hospitals working as a senior house officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery where she greatly developed her surgical skills and the management of acute Maxillofacial presentations.
Subsequently, she spent two years at St George’s Hospital NHS Trust undertaking training as a senior house officer in Restorative Dentistry, treating patients with Head & Neck Cancer, Maxillofacial Trauma, Severely Medically Compromised Patients and patients with congenital facial deformities. She also treated patients with complex restorative problems referred by general dental practitioners and other clinicians from primary care. During this time she also published articles in some well known journals such as Dental Update and BDJ Team on various topics in Restorative Dentistry and presented posters at the British Society For Restorative Dentistry (BSRD). In addition, she was involved in regular departmental audit projects, one of which she won first prize for across St George’s Hospital NHS Trust. She was also involved in teaching other dental core trainees and the organization of weekly journal clubs which has enabled her to always stay at the forefront of the best available clinical evidence.
Following this she worked as a Speciality Dentist in Acute Dental Care at Kings College Hospital for two years, managing patients with Acute Dental Problems and supervising undergraduates on the clinics. Subsequently she returned to St George’s Hospital as a Speciality Dentist in Restorative Dentistry in a more senior role.
She has worked in general practice for the last year and has treated patients from all walks of life. She is very passionate about her work and is constantly striving to provide the best care for all of her patients using the most up to date evidence. Her friendly and gentle nature allows her to put her patients at ease and make Dentistry a pleasurable experience.
Outside of Dentistry Shabana enjoys spending time with her young family and travelling.
